The world is still falling apart, and The Black Lips will sing about it in St. Pete this weekend

The Atlanta psych-rock’s new album is called ‘Apocalypse Love.’

The last time Tampa Bay had a chance to see The Black Lips was in January 2020, at an album release party for the eerily-aptly-named Sing in a World That’s Falling Apart.

Four years later, the world is still doing that, and the Atlanta-based garage rock band’s latest release Apocalypse Love only has a pinch of its original heavy sound (it also features a heavier presence from acoustic guitars, a tabla to open “Whips of Holly,” and a lot of They Might Be Giants vibes in some of the lead vocals).

Miami-based fuzz-rock outfit Jacuzzi Boys, and St. Pete’s own psych-rock darling Liquid Pennies open.

Tickets to see The Black Lips play Floridian Social in St. Petersburg  on Friday, March 29 are still available for $25.
